More than 150 event professionals gathered at Banqueting House for a street party that took them through six different decades, starting off in the ‘50s and ending up in the present day.

Every half an hour the lighting and music changed to welcome in a new decade, playing the most famous songs and bands from each era. The entertainment was also fitted to the decade and included a close harmony trio, acrobats and a contortionist.

A range of food and drink was also available, including some standouts from earlier decades such as spam fritters, beans on toast and posh pot noodles.

Jennifer Lockham, Banqueting House manager, said: "As a venue that has played such an important role in British history, it seemed fitting that we should celebrate this with a traditional street party as we head into the last two months of 2015. We hope guests enjoyed the range of culinary delights and entertainment reminiscent of each era, while experiencing the grandeur and versatility of the Banqueting House."
