The Magnificent Mile is one of downtown Chicago's most-visited streets. It has modern high rises, luxury retail outlets and fine-dining eateries and is within walking distance of celebrated attractions such as Navy Pier and Soldier Field.

Located inside a landmark skyscraper on the stretch is The Gwen, a Luxury Collection Hotel, a new opening from Starwood Hotels & Resorts. The hotel opened its doors on 1 September. In addition to 300 guestrooms there are 13 meeting and event spaces, the largest being the 300m2 Conrad Ballroom that can hold 350. Divided, it can host 180 for receptions and a range of smaller meeting rooms can seat groups of 13 to 100. State-of-the-art A/V facilities and technicians feature in each space.

The showstopper is the Terrace Rooftop and adjoining restaurant, with a menu incorporating all the American favourites with an Asian twist.

Wi-fi: free throughout
