C&IT spotlights five of the best ballroom venues in the capital for large events with a touch of class.

Rosewood London

The former Chancery Court Hotel reopened at the end of 2013 as the Rosewood London, bringing a new ballroom to the capital.

The property's Grand Ballroom can accommodate up to 555 guests and can be divided into three smaller spaces, each with an independent entrance. Two dramatic staircases lead from the lobby to the balcony, which overlooks the Grand Ballroom's foyer and leads directly to the five salons, which can serve as supplementary rooms for events.

Sheraton Park Lane

The 70-year old Sheraton Park Lane hotel is in the middle of a multi-million-pound renovation that will see a significant restoration to its 990m2 Grade II-listed ballroom. Groups of up to 1,200 can be accommodated for a cocktail reception, or 500 can be hosted for dinner and dancing with an additional dance floor and built-in stage. The hotel's Balcony Suite, which overlooks the ballroom, can host up to 50 theatre-style, will also be updated.

Grosvenor House

The famed five-star property on London's Park Lane in Mayfair holds one of London's largest ballrooms, with dedicated space measuring at 534m2. Groups of up to 550 can be hosted theatre-style and for banquets, as well as a further 1,000 delegates for receptions. Corporates to have used the venue recently include Johnnie Walker and Network Rail, with other high-profile events including the Q Awards and the Retail Trust London Ball.

The Landmark London

This five-star hotel near Marylebone railway station features two ballroom spaces. The elegant Grand Ballroom, with high ceilings and Victorian-style soft furnishings, can cater for up to 750 guests for a cocktail reception and up to 500 guests for a dinner.

The Ballroom, featuring high ceilings and natural lighting, can host up to 500 delegates for reception drinks and 408 for dinners.

8 Northumberland Avenue

The focal point of this Grade II-listed property, a former grand hotel built in the 17th century and near to Trafalgar Square, is its ballroom. Restored period details, original chandeliers and stained-glass windows form part of the decor in 8 Northumberland Avenue's signature space, which measures 380m2 and can host 520 for dinners, 600 theatre-style and 700 for receptions.
