A statement from TRO on its website read: "It is with deep sadness that TRO today announces the passing of Tom Gentle, a much loved and admired member of the TRO family."
Gentle was killed in a sailing accident on Friday 25 September, as he prepared for the 40th Yare Navigation Race in Norfolk.
Tributes described him as having "an absolute joie de vivre and an insatiable energy for everything he undertook." His passions included cycling, skiing and sailing, which tragically took his life on Friday.
Gentle was the first to join TRO when Ian Russell founded the business in 1982. As a member of the UK board and client services director, he was responsible for one of TRO’s longest-standing clients, General Motors.
The statement went on to add: "Our thoughts and prayers are with Tom’s wife, Sandra, family and friends, and of course his TRO family."
