The hotel will be located in Madrid’s historical quarter in the Salamanca neighbourhood, close to embassy buildings as well as small, traditional boutique shops.
It will have 146 rooms decorated with avant-garde furniture and classic details to reflect the building’s architecture. Other facilities will include the hotel restaurants, which will be set outside in the garden and will serve traditional Spanish tapas, and a rooftop bar.
Sara Ramis, marketing director for Barceló Hotels & Resorts, said: "We have wanted to open a luxury hotel in Madrid for quite some time and we are certain this is the right spot. The building is distinctive and the hotel’s transformation will be a clever combination of the old and the new."
