Ashfield Meetings & Events ran its annual supplier networking and education event The Lab on Wednesday (19 August). Held at the agency’s divisional UK headquarters in Ashby De La Zouch, the event for UK staff was designed to deliver professional development and best practice sharing. Throughout the day, delegates enjoyed a series of workshops, external speakers and exhibit environments.

This week's top five stories:

1. India does u-turn on visa regulations for UK groups

2. Agencies increase focus on 'disaster response'

3. Operating profit and turnover up, despite loss for WRG

4. Grass Roots to close Marlow office as profits bounce back

5. Finnair launches summer Edinburgh to Helsinki flights

ISES Live started on Thursday and will go on through to Saturday at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside in Louisiana, USA. The international conference welcomes event professionals from around the world and explores the roles of creativity, innovation and collaboration in live event experiences. Delegates enjoyed speaker sessions and energisers, before the Society's international Spirit of Excellence Awards took place on Thursday night. The ISES UK chapter picked up the award for Special Projects for its ISES Accelerate conference earlier this year.

Also this week, Wildgoose Events ran its 'Apprentice Challenge' teambuilding event for Human Recognition Systems in Liverpool. The delegates were tasked with creating an energy drink and were responsible for its marketing, PR and pitch.
