Inverness uncovered

With the World Orienteering Championships taking place in Inverness from 31 July to 8 August, this summer is the perfect time to explore what makes the city an enticing location for meetings and incentives.

As a business events destination, Inverness offers first-class conference facilities, from the 840-seat Eden Court Theatre, to business hotels such as The Kingsmills Hotel & Spa and The New Drumossie Hotel, both of which offer dedicated meeting facilities for over 450 delegates.

Connections to worldwide destinations from Inverness are closer than ever, with short connecting flights from UK hubs, not to mention codeshare arrangements with KLM via Amsterdam to its worldwide network, Aer Lingus via Dublin to USA and Canada, Etihad via Manchester to the Middle East and Cathay Pacific via Manchester to Asia. Inverness airport is just 15 minutes from the city centre, with rail links to cities around the UK, including the option of an overnight journey with the new Caledonian Sleeper service from London.

Outside of the city lies a wealth of history in the form of the famous Cawdor and Urquhart Castles. Nearby Achnagairn Castle and Aldourie Castle also offer luxurious five-star accommodation for corporate groups.

For those looking for something a little different, the area is not short of unique venues including Tomatin Distillery, Highlanders Museum at Fort George, Castle Stuart golf course and the new UHI Inverness Campus.

This part of the country also gives groups the chance to sample Scotland’s outstanding natural larder, with the Year of Food and Drink offering the perfect opportunity to showcase the best local culinary delights.
