Gilbertson, who joined on 1 August from Incisive Media, has a background in business journalism and executive management, with considerable experience in chairing and leading mid-sized private businesses and larger groups.

Teresa-Anne Dunleavy, Concerto Group’s chief executive, said the company was delighted to be bringing Gilbertson’s expertise to the business. "He brings deep experience of chairing boards and guiding companies with a strong emphasis on value creation and is well placed to support our ambitious plans for the business".

Gilbertson said Concerto Group had an unmatched position in the field of events organisation. "The range of its offerings enables it to continue to push boundaries and to distinguish itself through quality and scope. The senior team is driving an exciting growth agenda and I’m really pleased to be joining to support them on this journey."
