Tharmanayagam is currently global events specialist with the Global Events Division in London, and her move to the event team in Melbourne is intended to strengthen the Australian arm of The Appointment Group, which was established in Melbourne in January 2013. The division has since delivered first-year turnover of £1.3m with an operating profit of £289,839 for the financial year January to December 2014.
Tharmanayagam first joined The Appointment Group in 2012 and has managed a series of high-profile international events for the company, as well as a worldwide incentive programme. She also played a major role in a successful bid for a £2.56m travel and events contract for an American financial consulting firm with seven US offices.
She previously worked in events teams for Fiona Leahy Design and Haymarket Publishing, and has worked with clients including Louis Vuitton, Dita von Teese, Jimmy Choo, Harvey Nichols and Unicef.

Following Tharmanayagam’s move to Australia, her former global events specialist role will move to New York, where the agency is currently recruiting a dedicated team to cover the US East Coast. The Appointment Group has plans for significant growth in the US, and in January 2015 opened an office in Atlanta.
