The conference, being held for the fourth time, is expected to attract around 2,000 delegates from around the world. Previous conferences were held in Sydney and Chicago.
SMACC is an academic meeting combined with online social media to deliver innovation with education. The program addresses clinical issues delivered by key academic speakers and will include live twitter feeds, podcasts, vodcasts, live streaming and digital e-poster displays.
"Given the overwhelming response to SMACC and the growth in its international popularity, the move to Europe in June 2016 has been delegate-demand driven," said Lucy Timms, team manager, events, at The Association Specialists. "The choice of Dublin as the host city was facilitated by it being a popular destination for travellers, a transport hub for both the USA and Europe, having a state-of-the-art convention centre and the strong connections from the critical care website community based locally in Ireland and the UK."
