The global conference will take place at the Fairmont Barcelona from 18-20 October 2015, with more than 500 leaders from the international coal industry set to attend.

Coaltrans, a leading event provider to the commodity industry worldwide, sought a creative events agency to create a ‘totally new environment or ecosystem’ for the event. It will be created in one space and will challenge the normal format of segregated plenary, breakouts and exhibition space, instead creating one 'dynamic ecosystem' where tough challenges facing the industry can be discussed.

Orson Francescone, managing director at Coaltrans Conferences, said: "The commodity industry is facing many changes on many fronts and for the leading industry event we felt we needed to reflect these changes in the format of the event.

"Also in recent years the way people consume information, network and exchange ideas at conferences is rapidly changing and the need for a more dynamic content and networking environment is becoming more apparent.

"With a strong in-house resource we were looking for a partner that could work alongside us, and create an event environment that would lead the way in creating a dynamic environment for growth and innovation. We believe we have found that partner in Crescendo."

Crescendo engagement director, Russell Allen, said: "From the very first meeting with the Coaltrans team, we recognised a passion and ambition to challenge the norm and create an industry leading environment for their event that is both provocative and fit for purpose. We look forward to delivering it."
