In addition to lighting and digital signage to aid event branding, the centre will have more breakout room space throughout levels 2 and 3.

The QEII Centre, which will reopen in early September, began its renovation programme 18 months ago, to improve visitors’ experiences.

Mark Taylor, QEII Centre chief executive, said: "The centre grew its occupancy level and turnover by 17.5% in 2014/15, recording its best income performance since 2008/09." He added that the renovations will improve the overall customer experience at the venue.

The building will remain open for site visits only for the next six weeks.
