The Hotel Aquatis, which will also feature an aquarium by 2016, is owned by Boas Swiss Hotels, a group of ten properties in the western regions of Switzerland.

Its conference centre will feature two large suites, with capacity to host up to 380 people, as well as two smaller rooms for board meetings. The larger spaces can be split to offer seminar rooms accommodating 50-150.

Olivier Mathieu, congress and meetings manager at Lausanne Tourisme and Convention Bureau, said the opening, which follows the launch of another 35-room hotel this week, would strengthen the accommodation offering for business travellers.

"The Aquatis, particularly, will offer a whole new dimension for our meetings and events offering with all the necessary facilities on-site and the city centre just a short ride on the metro,"  he said.
