Abu Dhabi's Al Maryah Central project takes shape

Work has started on Al Maryah Central in Abu Dhabi, a development that will include hotels and a shopping mall spanning 2.3 million sqft.

The project, which is due for completion in 2018, will feature a hotel within one of two integrated towers, alongside luxury residences. A cinema is also planned.

Kenneth A. Himmel, president and CEO of Related Urban and co-managing partner of Gulf Related, which is behind the project, said: "This development will create an urban retail, leisure and entertainment destination on Al Maryah Island that will serve the rapidly growing customer base on Al Maryah Island as well as catering to the wider needs of Abu Dhabi city."
