New hotel announced for Norway's largest congress centre

Scandic Hotels, the largest hotel operator in the Nordic countries, will open a new hotel in 2018 at Norway's largest congress centre, Norway Trade Fairs in Lilleström.

The 12-storey Scandic Portalen hotel, which will be located at the train station in Lilleström, will be the tallest building in the area. It will offer 220 hotel rooms and 500msq of meeting and conference facilities. The hotel is expected to be finished in January 2018.

Frank Fiskers, president and chief executive of Scandic Hotels, said: "With its strategic location at one of Norway's most important hubs for business travellers and the largest exhibition centre in the country, Scandic Portalen will be a valuable addition to our Norwegian hotel portfolio."

Lilleström is located 20 kilometres from Oslo and is the only stop on the Flygtoget train line between the airport and Oslo’s Central Station. In addition to the new hotel, the area will include apartments as well as office and retail space.
