Winners announced for IMEX Awards 2015

The winners of the IMEX Academy Awards and Industry Awards were announced last night (20 May) at the annual Gala Dinner at Alte Oper, Frankfurt.

A total of 15 awards were handed out, including the prestigious Academy Awards, which recognise individuals in different regions for outstanding service to the meetings and incentive travel industry.

The Academy Award for Europe was presented to Henrik von Arnold, an adviser and consultant to the meeting industry who runs his own company based in Vienna. Von Arnold is a former director of Göteborg Convention Bureau and has acted as chairman of the Scandinavian Chapter of ICCA.

The Academy Award for the Africa Middle East region was presented to Glen Byrom, founder of Twiice DMC Victoria Falls & Chobe DMC.

The winner of the Academy Award for the Asia Pacific region was Rajeev Kohli, chairman and managing director of Creative Travel.

Judy Henrich, director of recruitment and industry relations for Global Cynergies, won the Academy Award for the Americas.

The Academy Award for Special Services was won by Amy Spatrisano, CMP, for her services to the ‘greening’ of the meetings industry. Amy is former principal with MeetGreen, co-founder of the Green Meeting Industry Council, and chair of the APEX Green Meeting Practice Panel.

IAPCO Innovation Award: Andrew Dergousoffn, director of virtual conferences at International Conference Services Ltd

PCMA Global Meetings Executive of the Year: Pieter Barend Francois Swart, managing director and founder of Conference Consultancy South Africa

IAEE International Organiser Award: Edward Liu, managing director of Conference & Exhibition Management Services

Site Master Motivator Award: Joost de Mayer, chairman and CEO of First Incentive Travel

DMAI Destination Marketing Humanitarian Award: Johannesburg Tourism
