On Tuesday (5 May) Perthshire resort Gleneagles officially launched its new £750,000 indoor event space, The Gleneagles Arena. The arena is home to four indoor tennis courts, its primary usage, but it will double up as a versatile events space suitable for conferences, product launches and teambuilding activities. The 2,500sqm Arena has a maximum capacity of 2,250 and can cater for 800 guests for dinner or 1,500 for a reception. There are 650 permanent viewing seats.

On Wednesday (6 May) Hire Space celebrated its second birthday by launching Hire Space Plus, a rewards program for regular venue-bookers. Events professionals gathered at the ArcelorMittal Orbit in the Olympic Park, and free membership was available to those who attended. The party had cocktails from the legendary Looking Glass Cocktail Club, canapés by the ArcelorMittal Orbit’s in-house caterers, and event production from EMS Events.
On Thursday (7 May) The Appointment Group hosted a client party for its Manchester & North East based clients at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel in Manchester. Entertainment included a 20-piece orchestra with four singers, playing a medley of Mancunian indie rock classics. There was a range of retro pub games, including pinball, space-invaders and pacman, a magician and a craft brewery serving specially brewed TAG beer.
Also on Wednesday, Late Night London’s meetings and events team hosted its annual Petanque evening at Hays Galleria. Professionals from agencies including Banks Sadler and Eventspiration arrived to sample the venue and enjoy the wine list and cheese and charcuterie platters.
