Radisson Blu Hotel in Frankfurt unveiled redeveloped areas in August last year, including the addition of 700m2 to its existing 1,000m2 event space, creating seven state-of-the-art, flexible meeting areas and a larger lobby.
The Sheraton brand opened in Berlin in December, with the conversion of the existing Grand Hotel Esplanade to a Sheraton property, offering 354 guest rooms and ten function spaces, the largest seating up to 450 theatre-style. Also in Berlin, The Estrel Congress & Messe Centre is adding another convention hall, due to be completed in September. It will feature two venues to hold up to 5,200 and increase overall event space capacity from 15,004m2 to 25,084m2.
Steigenberger Hotel Group took over the Hotel Cologne Rudolfplatz in Cologne in January, and will reopen the property as the Steigenberger Hotel Koln in the second half of 2016, with 301 rooms, a ballroom and seven meeting spaces.
The Congress Centre in Würzburg in Northern Bavaria expanded its event space earlier this year, with the addition of four new, multi-functional meeting rooms and lobby area for 520 guests. Total capacity has increased to 2,500 and exhibition and foyer areas have doubled.
The Regensburg Congress Centre in the south east is due to open in late 2016/early 2017, in a heritage-listed building dating back to 1888, with capacity for up to 750 in the largest room.
