Gleneagles, which is reportedly subject of a £150m bid from Belfry-owner KSL, has today opened its latest development, the £750,000 Gleneagles Arena.
Home to four indoor tennis courts, the facility's primary usage, the Arena will double up as a versatile events space suitable for conferences, product launches and teambuilding activities.
The 2,500sqm Arena has a maximum capacity of 2,250 and can cater for 800 guests for dinner or 1,500 for a reception. There are 650 permanent viewing seats.
Bernard Murphy, Gleneagles’ managing director, said: "With its long and illustrious golfing heritage, Gleneagles already has a reputation as a world-class sporting venue. Now we hope to add another string to our bow and establish Gleneagles as one of Scotland’s premier event and tennis destinations.
"The Arena has fantastic potential as a venue for large-scale events. We’ve already had a lot of interest from event planners for everything from corporate celebrations, to exhibitions, to concerts. It’s such a large space that it provides a great blank canvas for organisers to create something really ambitious.
"We hope this new development will help us build on the success of last year’s Ryder Cup to bring even more diverse and exciting events to Gleneagles."
Gleneagles, which recently announced further investment of £1.1m in ongoing upgrades, will continue to develop its offer beyond the new Arena.
