More than 6,000 people are known to have died in the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that happened on 25 April. Thousands more are injured or missing in the rubble, and the Nepal government has warned that the death toll could rise to more than 10,000.

The Red Cross has said that more than six million people living within 100km of the epicentre have potentially been affected, with nearby towns and villages left in "almost total devastation".

Clarke said: "My own connection with Nepal goes back a good few years when I had an incentive group to the country following my participation on an agency fam organised by Gill Moulden and Natraj Tours. The country and its people captivated me.

"As an industry, many of us have personal connections with this magical place and have local contacts on the ground that can put your money to good effect. Please dig deep and prove how generous and big hearted the MICE industry can be."

Clarke’s fundraising page can be found here.
