Business events professionals share experiences at Russian Meetings Industry Forum

Professionals from a number of scientific and business fields shared their experiences of attracting and organising major meetings in the Russian capital and other locations around the world at the Russian Meetings Industry Forum.

The event, held at Moscow's World Trade Centre last month, also included several contributions from the Moscow Convention Bureau.

Anna Ivanko, vice director general, Moscow Convention Bureau, took part in the opening panel discussion as a guest speaker. The bureau also helped organise a round-table discussion "How to attract an international event to your city?", which was moderated and chaired by head of Moscow Convention Bureau Ksenya Boykova.

Renat Batyrov, director general of Skolkovo technology park, gave a talk about his experience of bringing the 33rd International Association of Science Parks Conference to Moscow – the conference is scheduled to take place at Skolkovo's own congress venue in 2016.

Vladimir Kalegaev, head of Moscow State University's space information research laboratory, shared his impressions of the preparatory stages and the running days of COSPAR, the international scientific assembly for space research, held in Moscow in the summer of 2014.

The success of Sochi's bid as the next site for the international Ecotourism Conference 2015 was announced by Mark Andeya, executive director of Convention and Visitor Bureau Sochi.

Other issues discussed included communication strategies with bid committees of major international events and convention venues’ pricing policies.
