JW Marriott Venice opens its 'dock' to the public

The much-anticipated JW Marriott Venice hotel, located on its own private island, soft opened on 26 March in the Italian city.

The 250-room JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa is the brand's sixth European property, but the first in Italy.

The 40-acre resort – situated on its own private island in a lagoon near St Mark’s Square and La Serenissima – has a function space inside an old church on the premises and a variety of outdoor spaces for guest use.

It has four restaurants, including the signature Dopolavoro Dining Room, and five bars, as well a cooking school and wine academy.

There is a 1,750sqm spa, which offers bespoke treatments and an indoor pool, a health club, eight treatment rooms and a hammam. Also available at the resort are watersports such as canoeing and sailing and a outdoor, rooftop infinity pool with views out over the city.

Mitzi Gaskins, vice president and global brand manager for JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, said: "The opening of our first property in Italy marks a time of great growth and development for the JW Marriott brand and this will be celebrated by a spectacular opening event in June."
