Marriott's lifestyle with 'attitude' brand intends to open 2,700 new hotel rooms in key European cities by the end of 2016 and hopes to open 150 Moxy hotels by 2020.

The four UK properties in the pipeline are: Moxy London Royal Docks, close to the ExCel Exhibition Areas and Canary Wharf, in autumn 2016; Moxy London Stratford, next to Westfield and adjacent to the Olympic Park, in summer 2016; Moxy London Heathrow Airport in winter 2016; and Moxy Aberdeen Airport in mid-2016.

Moxy, which opened its first hotel, Moxy Milan Malpensa in September 2014, also recently announced plans to open three properties in New York as part of a wider expansion into the US market.

Further European openings are planned for cities including Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Copenhagen and Oslo.

Amy McPherson, president and MD of Marriott International, Europe, said:  "We expect that the next few years will show significant growth, helping to build brand presence so travellers can familiarise themselves with a new affordable design hotel concept."
