The 266-room JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa will have a lagoon location on its own private island near St Mark’s Square and La Serenissima in the city.

The 16-acre resort has a function space inside an old church on the premises and a variety of outdoor spaces for guest use.  It also has four restaurants and five bars, as well a cooking school and wine academy.

There is a 1,750m spa, which offers bespoke treatments and has an indoor and outdoor pool, a health club, eight treatment rooms and a hammam.

Also available at the resort are watersports such as canoeing and sailing and a rooftop pool with views out over the city.
