Last night at The Natural History Museum, 220 event buyers, stakeholders and media were treated to an evening of Scottish hospitality to celebrate the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre's (SECC) annual Dram’n’Banter Burns Supper. The event began with a welcome reception and whisky tasting sponsored by Glengoyne Distillery, followed by supper and a traditional Scottish ceilidh. There was also the opportunity to meet and network with staff from the SECC Glasgow, Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, VisitScotland, Compass Group and Glengoyne Distillery.

Over the weekend (16-17 January), Silverstone Circuit invited a group of 40 agency organisers to the home of British motor racing to check out the facilities and sample the on-site Snoozebox accommodation. Professionals from agencies including Zibrant Live, Primary Live and Ex Events came along for a tour of the facilities, a drive around the world-famous Formula 1 track and an evening dinner in the British Racing Drivers' Club.

On Monday (19 January), Performing Artistes’ hosted a New Year’s speaker drinks gathering at the Institute of Directors in Pall Mall. Entertainment included comedians Justin Moorhouse, Funmbi Omotayo and Pippa Evans, plus her alter ego Loretta Maine. Also in attendance were talkSPORT presenter Colin Murray, Capital FM’s Greg Burns, and former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Lord Lamont.

Association MPI staged its first Insights session of 2015 on Tuesday (20 January) welcoming event industry buyers and suppliers to London's Ironmongers Hall to discuss the economic outlook for the industry this year. Chris Williamson, chief economist at Markit, gave his take on the economic outlook for the UK, before American Express presented its 2015 Meetings & Events Forecast. Guest graphologist Adam Brand analysed delegates handwriting and the event ended with a drinks reception.

Last night (22 January), Late Night London’s meetings and events team put on a Great Gatsby-themed industry party at the newly refurbished Forge on Cornhill in the City. Agency guests including Ten Group, Beyond Certainty, Hire Space and Eventspiration enjoyed cocktails and bowl-food from Late Night London's January range while being entertained by a magician. A photo-booth provided by Blank Canvas added to the fun.
