Club Liverpool will double the number of city ambassadors in the next year, who will work to entice major national and international events to Liverpool. The city plans to grow the number of events it hosts in the education, scientific and medical sectors.

The launch of Club Liverpool comes as the city prepares to open its new £66m exhibition centre at ACC Liverpool in September 2015.

Kerrin MacPhie, director of sales at ACC Liverpool, said: "City ambassadors are crucial in helping us to attract large international conferences as they are experts in their field and can help to identify key events which they would like to see hosted in their home city.  Each event in turn generates millions of pounds in economic benefit for the region.

"The launch of Club Liverpool, together with the opening of Exhibition Centre Liverpool, will allow us to further cement our growing reputation both nationally and internationally as one of the UK’s leading conference destinations."
