Exclusive: David Battley leaves BI Worldwide

BI Worldwide director of events David Battley has left the agency after three and a half years in the role.

In an email sent on Christmas eve - his last day - Battley cited the long commute from West London to Milton Keynes as a reason for his departure.

BI Worldwide said in a statement that following Battley's departure, it has taken the opportunity to restructure its events division. 

Managing director Mike Davies takes over leadership of the team and responsibility for strategy and a new operations director role is created, which the agency is currently recruiting for. The occupant of the new director role will lead senior managers in three key areas of the business: delegate registration, project management and aviation.

Davies commented: "We have a talented team that David has been instrumental in building and we wish him all the best in the next stage of his career. We are already focussed on strengthening further and the search for a talented and ambitious Operations Director is now underway."

Battley – who was previously director of events and meetings management at HRG - joined Milton Keynes-based BI Worldwide in June 2011 in the newly created role to focus on growth and operations.

In September, BI Worldwide reported a 37% increase in turnover and a 17% increase in gross profit for 2013/14. According to figures posted at Companies House, BI Worldwide saw turnover increase from £23.47m in 2012/13 to £32.24m in 2013/14.
