The Knickerbocker, New York City (opening February)

On the southeast corner of 42nd Street overlooking Times Square, the historic 330-room hotel is a bona fide NYC icon and is the rumoured birthplace of the original martini.

Facilities will include: a 204sqm event space for up to 250 guests; St Cloud, a 697sqm rooftop bar and terrace with views of the city’s skyline; a fitness centre; the restaurant and bar Charlie Palmer at The Knick; JAKES @ The Knick coffee-house and artisanal cafe; and in-room salon services from celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson.

The property, registered as a New York City landmark since 1988, was originally opened in 1906 by John Jacob Astor IV and welcomed both glitterati and dignitaries. It was closed and converted into offices in 1921.

Mondrian Istanbul (2015)

Following the brand's recent opening on London's Southbank, Mondrian Istanbul promises to 'bring the heat, intensity, energy and Sunset Strip vibe of the original Hollywood Mondrian to the Old City area of Istanbul'.

The property is in close proximity to the Topkapi Palace, the Hagia Sophia, the Sultanahmet Mosque, or Blue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar and the 1,500 year-old Basilica Cistern.

The seventh Mondrian property will offer 128 rooms and suites, innovative bars and restaurants, meeting and conference space and a spa, renovated from an existing historic Turkish bath.

Aloft Munich (August)

Starwood's bright, tech-focussed Aloft brand heads to central Munich – steps from the main train station and U-Bahn and S-Bahn lines – in August. The location also offers easy access to the Oktoberfest grounds, Hofbraeuhaus, Maximilian Street, and the Old and New Town Halls.

Inside you will find Aloft's W XYZ bar, the healthy eating snack outlet re:fuel by Aloft, a 24/7 pantry, and the re:mix lounge.

Tactic is the name for Aloft Munich’s 96sqm of meeting space, which includes three reconfigurable function areas, all equipped with the latest A/V, including a 50" flat-panel plasma TV.

St Regis Dubai (October)

When it arrives in October, the 233-room St. Regis Dubai will form part of an exclusive integrated resort that comprises residential towers and a Las Vegas-style theatre. Some 51 suites will include the Middle East's first Bentley Suite.

'Inspired by Beaux-Arts architecture from New York’s Gilded Age', the hotel’s interior will include a grand staircase, carefully selected artwork, and a musical fountain.

The property will house six meeting spaces capable of hosting events of all sizes, from executive roundtable meetings to large-scale celebrations. The opulent, 800sqm Astor Ballroom is complemented by five additional meeting rooms.

Dubai International Airport (DXB) is a 30-minute drive away.
