Over the weekend (4-8 December) C&IT joined a host of UK agencies including Zibrant Live, Ashfield Meetings & Events and In2Events on a fam trip to Marrakech. The itinerary included an intimate tour of the Medina, with a visit to the oldest Quranic School in the city, as well as a day exploring the culture and traditions within the great Atlas Mountains.
Around 200 event professionals gathered for ISES UK, MPI and SITE's joint Christmas party at London's Ministry of Sound on Monday evening (8 December). Partridge Events delivered the event with help from a host of sponsors, which brought an array of interactive entertainment and activities to the venue including LED dancing ballerinas, freestyle roller skaters and beat boxers. A raffle raised £930 for Teenage Cancer Trust and Meetings Industry Needs.
On Tuesday (9 December), C&IT's sister title Event hosted a Christmas Party at The Collection in London, unveiling the 2015 Event 100 Club – a list of the most influential people in the industry – to more than 200 guests.
Jack Morton Worldwide's EMEA president Julian Pullan took the top spot, followed by George P Johnson vice president of business development Kevin Jackson, with Fay Sharpe, managing director of Zibrant, coming in third place. The full Event 100 Club 2015 rankings can be found here:
Last night (11 December) Visit Wales invited 100 corporate buyers and associations to London's Foreign and Commonwealth Office to showcase the best venues in Wales for business events. Titled Wales In London, the event provided a platform for Welsh venues and organisations to promote Wales as a business destination and discuss future plans for the country.
Having hosted the NATO Summit in September, The Celtic Manor Resort gave a presentation explaining what made Wales the right choice for the largest gathering of world leaders ever to take place in the UK. Its chefs were also on hand creating locally sourced canapés and refreshments to help give guests a taste of Wales.
Yesterday evening (11 December) also saw 150 event and digital communication industry guests attend Evcom's Winter Wonderland party at London's QEII. Attendees were welcomed by a choir singing traditional yuletide carols. Once inside, they were invited to take part in a digital snowball fight on an interactive LED Screen and walk through a virtual reality Santa’s grotto using Oculus Rift technology.
