She will be joined by deputy chair Lesley Williams, who has also been re-elected to the board for two more years.

MacPhie, who is director of sales at ACC Liverpool, and Williams, who is head of business tourism at Marketing Edinburgh, have already served two years at the association.

Macphie said: "I am extremely honoured to have been re-elected to the role of chairperson for ICCA UK and Ireland. This is an exciting time for the association as we continue to develop the Chapter in terms of members, benefits and education."

ICCA UK and Ireland will host its first annual debate in Brighton next year. The two-day event, which will take place from 24-25 March 2015, includes an evening reception and dinner and will be the key meeting in the association’s calendar, replacing its previous winter and summer debates.

The ICCA UK and Ireland Chapter represents 74 members. Attendance at the annual debate is open to both members and non-members.
