Located in a busy commercial and retail area in the Asoke-Sukhumvit area of the Thai capital, the 568-room Avani Atrium Bangkok is hoping to appeal to both business and leisure guests.

Formerly Atrium Bangkok, the hotel has undergone a £5m refurbishment over the past 12 months, giving the guest rooms, suites and public areas a contemporary makeover. The 12-storey atrium lobby now showcases a striking, six-metre high artwork.

There are seven meeting rooms with flexible layouts and the latest A/V equipment that can host between ten and 400 guests.

New additions include excecutive floors on the upper levels; a connect zone for internet access, printing and charging; and a casual drinks, snacks and light meals area known as Pantry. A Japanese teppanyaki restaurant, Benihana, will open early next year.

Avani Hotels & Resorts is part of the Thailand-based Minor Hotel Group and has six other properties in Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Malaysia and Mozambique, with further openings planned in Asia, the Indian Ocean and Africa.

Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotel Group, said: "We are excited to add Thailand to the growing list of countries our up-scale Avani brand is present in, which is now five and a total of seven properties. For Minor Hotel Group introducing our newest brand to our home market of Bangkok was very important to us and we are confident that Avani is a great fit in this vibrant city."
