Colin Bennett, Starwood's area manager for England, told C&IT the brand is "actively pursuing" new locations across the UK with sites in Belfast and Brighton also "on the horizon".

The first UK Aloft hotel, aimed at the 'next generation of traveller', opened in London's Docklands in 2011. Starwood has already revealed plans to open a second London property at Tobacco Dock in 2017.

The second Aloft hotel opened in Liverpool in October within the 110-year-old former Royal Insurance Building on the corner of Dean Street and North John Street. It houses 116 loft-like bedrooms and five meeting rooms ranging in capacity from 10 to 100.
