Lord Mountbatten's home to open for events

Bridwell House and estate, home of Lord Mountbatten, is opening for private hire for the first time in its 240-year history.

Lord Ivar Mountbatten is allowing his Georgian home and 100-acre deer park in Uffculme, Devon, to be used for events from January.

The main house boasts reception rooms and a dining room, which could be used as a boardroom or banqueting suite. A newly renovated orangery can seat up to 150 people, while the gothic-style chapel is suitable for more intimate events such as board meetings, small conferences, theatre-style presentations or drinks receptions.

Bridwell also offers accommodation in the form of ten bedrooms that command views over the estate’s parkland.  

Lord Mountbatten said: "I am really pleased to be opening up my home for corporate and private events and the response to the venue so far has been staggering. We are thrilled to be helping so many people achieve their dream event – from large corporates wishing to put on teambuilding days and dinners, to intimate family celebrations or even hen and stag parties."
