The event took place at the National Centre for Circus Arts in Hoxton, London, on 17 and 18 November for 1,600 members of staff and suppliers, including attendees from the UK and French Border Agencies. Around 800 guests attended on the first day and the same number on the second.
Sam Hodlin, head of internal communications at Eurostar, said the brand wanted to host the event in a venue that offered both visual and creative opportunities, to produce an event with a quirky edge. The theme was 'Onwards and Upwards' and had to appeal to a number of different cultures, from the UK, to France to Belgium.
"The National Centre for Circus Arts is an urban, industrial space - a former electricity generating station, so it provided a great environment for the celebration, which was themed around Eurostar's destinations," he said.
Across the two days, guests were treated to visual representations for destinations including Paris, Brussels, Lille, London, Marseille and Amsterdam. The Paris performance was themed around fashion and models, while the Amsterdam one featured a show from dancers in clogs.
Eurostar's 20 years of service officially marked on 14 November, with the unveiling of its new e320 trains. Hodlin added that further, smaller local events would be held over the coming weeks to continue to mark the train operator's 20th anniversary.
