EIBTM 2014 opened today (18 November), with more than 3,000 exhibitors from 150 countries making their way to the Fira Gran Via, Barcelona for the three-day show.

More than 78,000 pre-scheduled appointments have already been confirmed between hosted buyers and exhibitors, representing a 20% growth on last year's show.

EIBTM announced that it will rename the show IBTM World as part of a rebrand of the IBTM events portfolio.

In a morning press conference, American Express Meetings & Events revealed its 2015 Global Meetings Forecast, which claimed that overall meeting spend and attendee rates in the UK will decrease next year.

London & Partners' head of business development Europe, Barbara Jamison, launched a London for Incentives Guest of Honour competition, where event professionals can submit what their ideal incentive programme would be via its website for a chance to win a trip to the UK capital.
