The new Saint Petersburg Convention Bureau (SPbCB) is 100% government owned and part of the Saint Petersburg Committee on Tourism Development.

Speaking at a press conference, SPbCB director, Dmitry Levykin said the government has set an ambitious target to get the city into the top 20 ICCA city rankings by 2020 - it is currently 79th.

The new bureau will provide advice, support and consultancy for planners looking to book meetings and incentives in the city, and will taarget business from key Western and Eastern European markets, as well as further afield in emerging markets such as China and India.

The launch of the convention bureau follows the opening of the new Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Centre in the city last month, which has capacity for more than 4,000 delegates.
