Speaking at a press conference, Sallie Coventry, IBTM portfolio director, said the rebrand was about creating a single voice and brand for the growing portfolio of IBTM events, which will include a new brand extension next year.
The branding for the new IBTM events portfolio is "Connections mean everything."
The flagship European show EIBTM becomes IBTM World, GIBTM was renamed IBTM Arabia in September, AIBTM recently became IBTM America and CIBTM becomes IBTM China under the rebrand.
Graeme Barnett, IBTM World senior exhibition director, said the show had been renamed IBTM World to represent the "truly global nature of the show".
"When you look at the representation among hosted buyers and exhibitors on the show floor, it's a global show so it doesn't make sense to call it a European show," he said.
The portfolio also includes IBTM Africa and IBTM India, AIME in Australia, which Coventry said will also be given a facelift in the next few weeks - and Mexican MICE event ICOMEX, which has just become part of the IBTM portfolio as a result of Reed Exhibitions' acquisition of its parent company Grupo Fidalex.
The new brand extension next year will be "A taste of IBTM" at WTM Latin America, enabling select hosted buyers and suppliers from the MICE market to connect at the show.
