South Africa: sport stadiums for events

With more than 1,700 meeting venues across South Africa, C&IT checks out some of the country's sporting venues for large events.

FNB Stadium, Johannesburg: The 94,000-seater stadium has ten meeting venues and can accommodate 500 delegates for conferences, 2,000 for banquets and 3,000 for cocktails. 

Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Port Elizabeth: This 46,000-seater stadium includes six meeting venues. The field can accommodate 10,000 delegates cinema-style, while the next largest space caters for 500 cinema-style.

Cape Town Stadium: Located in Green Point, between Signal Hill and the Altantic Ocean, close to Cape Town city centre and the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, the stadium has a capaciy of 64,100.

Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane: Seating capacity for the stadium is 45,000, and various meeting venues and executive suites are also available. 

Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban: There are various venues within the stadium available for events, including the Ocean Atrium, which caters for 220 for cocktails or 165 for banquets, the Platinum Club, hosting up to 200 for cocktails and the Presidential Suite for 150.
