British Airways (BA) will fly twice a day to the Basque city of Bilbao from 29 March 2015.

BA’s Bilbao service will use Heathrow’s Terminal 3 and will feature both Club World and economy cabins on board Airbus A319s and A320s.

Spanish carrier Vueling currently flies four-times weekly from Bilbao to Heathrow, but will move this service to Gatwick.

Stephen Humphreys, British Airways’ head of UK&I sales and marketing, said: "Bilbao is a brilliant business city with a fantastic cultural heritage offering a superb gateway to northern Spain for our customers."

Bilbao's Guggenheim Museum recently won an award for the Leading Culture Destination for Architecture & Spatial Design at the inaugural Leading Culture Destinations awards.
