The announcement was made at IMEX America in Las Vegas ahead of London & Partners’ MedCity event at the show.

The six-day event, which will take place at the city’s international convention centre ExceL London, will see more than 5,000 delegates gather to promote an international exchange of ideas in Alzheimer’s disease.

The Alzheimer’s Association conference, which will take place from 15-20 July 2017, joins a growing number of medical events being held in the capital.

ExceL London hosted four major life sciences conferences this year alone, while 2015 will see 35,000 senior medical professionals attend the five-day European Society of Cardiology Congress in August-September.

Darren Mendola, senior director of Conference Services at the Alzheimer's Association said: "London has everything an international conference attendee needs: stunning historic attractions, excellent transport connectivity and high-tech, high-capacity events spaces.

"London & Partners’ professional convention bureau team and ExceL’s efficient convention centre staff makes organising an event in London effortless for a meeting planner. This combined with the UK government’s commitment to Alzheimer’s research made London the leading choice for our 2017 event."
