The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is to host its Intelligent Energy (IE) conference and exhibition in Aberdeen in 2016.

Society of Petroleum Engineers picks Aberdeen for 2016

The biennial SPE Intelligent Energy 2016 event is expected to attract more than 2,000 delegates when it takes place at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) from 6-8 September 2016.

The three-day event programme will cover topics including technology, integrated operations, leadership, cyber-security and big data. The exhibition, organised by Reed Exhibitions, will showcase new and developing technologies and expertise by leading operators, service companies and technology providers.

Jeff Spath, 2014 president of SPE, said: "Holding SPE Intelligent Energy 2016 in Aberdeen presents an exciting opportunity to bring together international experts in a city that has produced some of the most progressive smart technology and thinking."

SPE Intelligent Energy 2014 was held in Utrecht in the Netherlands.
