The St Regis Chengdu hotel, located in the capital of the Sichuan province in south-west China, opened yesterday (4 September), offering 279 rooms and six restaurants including Yun Fu, which features four private dining rooms on the 27th floor.

The hotel also includes 1,100sqm of event space across nine meeting rooms, with the Astor Ballroom, the hotels’ largest room, able to accomodate up to 400 for a reception and 640 theatre-style.

The opening of St Regis Chengdu is part of the brand's plans to double its portfolio in Greater China in the next five years, including properties in Changsha, Haikou, Kuala Lumpur, Lijiang, Macao, Quingshui Bay, Sanya Haitang Bay and Zhuhai.

In June, Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced it will open a further three properties in China by the end of the year in Hangzhou, Dalian and Beijing.
