Lyon: top ten activities

The Lyon City Card offers unlimited use of buses, trams and metros and covers a range of cultural activities in the French City. The Lyon Convention and Exhibition Bureau highlights ten activities that can be done in conjunction with the Card.

A cruise on the Saone River: Groups can choose from two itineraries, with various sites to see along each route. 

Guided tours: Choose from more than 20 original and unforgettable excursions to discover the beauty of the city and its hidden gems. 

Miniature Museum & Cinema: Located in the heart of Vieux Lyon, the museum features more than 100 miniature scenes exquisitely crafted by world-renowned miniaturists and reproducing daily life settings, alongside a film exhibition that focuses on special effects techniques

Museum of Fine Arts: Discover the museum's extraordinary collection, among the richest in Europe, housed in a former Benedictine convent dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. Its collections range from ancient Egypt antiquities to the modern art period.

Musees Gadagne: Lyon History Museum and Marionettees from around the world. There are two museums in one, where groups can learn about the history of Lyon and discover the most fascinating marionettes from around the world, including Guignol, the equivalent to England's Punch and Judy.

Musee des Tissus & Musee Arts Decoratifs:  A display of textiles, fabric and decorative arts along with the collection's 4,000 year-old history.

Institut Lumiere: This museum honours the discovery of the art of cinema and the contribution to film making by Auguste and Louis Lumiere, inventors of the cinematographe.

Musee Gallo-RomainVisit the museum of Gallo-Roman antiquity found on the summit of Fourvière.

Maison des CanutsExplore and uncover the tradition of Lyonnais silk-weaving.

Le Petit Musee Fantastique de Guignol: Guided group tours in English are available to explore this musuem, charting the story of Guignol, the main character in a puppet show, and his friends.
