London hotel rates increase by 10% in last three months

Average hotel room rates in London have increased by more than 10% in the last three months with the UK capital becoming the most expensive destination in Europe to stay in.

The research carried out by hotel solutions provider HRS found that room rates in London are averaging at £130 a night, compared to £116 in May.

Copenhagen and Paris have joined London as the most expensive European capitals to stay in, with both cities having average room rates of £117 per night.

Elsewhere, Lisbon, Edinburgh and Amsterdam saw their average room rates increase by 17%, 13% and 5% respectively.

Despite hotel rates growing across a number of Europe’s top destinations, Sweden, Istanbul and Oslo saw hotel rates drop by an average of 12% while Warsaw, Budapest and Berlin were found by travellers to have the most inexpensive room rates.
