C&IT’s annual Brand Book, published this month and featuring 100 brands and their event strategies, reveals that although growth has continued following a successful 2012, as the market grows the pace of events increases, shortening lead times and stretching budgets.

Melissa White, head of experiential marketing at Sony Mobile says that although this has been a challenge, it has also presented several opportunities: "Lead times within the IT and telecoms industry are the most challenging of all sectors, Budgets get smaller and are squeezed so we need to be more creative."

Because audiences within the sector are so well positioned when it comes to the latest technology, pressure is put on event planners to deliver events that are both engaging and imaginative.
