The UK and Ireland chapter of Meetings Professionals International (MPI) is on a drive to support event professionals in gaining the internationally recognised Certified Meeting Professional accreditation.

Driven by the chapter's president Miguel Neves, the professional association is to hold a boot camp at ExCel London from 23-24 September.

The boot camp's content will include strategic planning, project management, financial and risk management, marketing, site selection, event design and will enable planners to gain valuable Continuing Education (CE) credits as well as apply and prepare for the CMP exam.

Tracy Halliwell MBE, director of Major Events & Business Tourism at London & Partners, said: "The CMP designation represents one of the few recognised standards of excellence in today's meetings and events industry and London & Partners is delighted that MPI UK & Ireland will be delivering a credible and established programme of continuing education for experienced event professionals.

"Any initiative that increases the gravitas of event professionals alongside other communication specialists is to be applauded and will only serve to further enhance the reputation of the UK as a premier event destination."
