Chris Bason, who joined CWT Meetings & Events in June after eight years at Grass Roots, has left the agency to join Ablemaxx, a new sales and marketing company, set up by Maxine MacPherson.

Courtenay-Warren starts her new role this week after joining CWT in November 2013. She has previously worked for Brunel University and Inntel.

Bason told C&IT: "The reason for the quick move is very simple and not over-complicated. I started as head of events at CWT and it was the best position I could have hoped to get. CWT has an amazing client base, the employees were very welcoming and professional and the company has a clear growth plan for the future. Ian Cummings is a great leader with a great vision.

"The office is based in London and I found myself with a much longer commute than I had expected and I quickly realised that I was never going to be able to give my team the time and support they really required for the given accounts."

Ian Cummings, managing director of CWT Meetings & Events, UK & Ireland, said: "Unfortunately, after a brief period in the role, Chris Bason decided that the head of events position was not right for him.

"CWT Meetings & Events has since appointed Iona Courtenay-Warren into the role of head of events, following her recent successful achievements as the operations manager for one of our pharmaceutical clients.

"Here she has delivered a raft of new initiatives, delivered events as well as overseen operational and events teams, ensuring she is well equipped to deliver ongoing growth to the live events team in the UK."
