Oslo Airport to simplify flight transfers

Travellers arriving from abroad via Oslo Airport will not have to collect their bags and check them in again for their domestic flight.

The system, which will come into force next year, applies to passengers connecting to domestic flights from an international flight. For example, if a passenger arrives from abroad at Oslo Airport and is flying to Trondheim, they will no longer have to claim their baggage and re-check it for the domestic flight, meaning they will not have to go through security again.

The Norwegian Government has decided to implement the simplified "one-stop security" transfer system as a pilot project at Oslo Airport starting in 2015. The pilot project will last for three years.

"We have worked on this for a long time and are very pleased that this pilot project is now coming into place,"said Nic Nilsen, managing director of Oslo Airport. "This will strengthen our position and competitiveness and make us more attractive to Norwegian and international travellers. The system will be a huge plus for Norwegian aviation in general."
