Oman in numbers

C&IT takes a look at the infrastructure, transport and tourism developments in Oman.

3: the number of airports serving Oman. Khasab is located in Khasab District, Musandam Governorate, north of the Sultanate of Oman. The airport receives daily flights from Muscat International Airport operated by Oman Air. Muscat International Airport is the main airport in the Sultanate of Oman and is located in Wilayt As Seeb, while Salalah Airport is Oman's second international airport.

3,200: the number of people that can be seated in the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre, which is set to be completed in late 2015. Surrounded by nature it overlooks a wadi and is only 10 minutes from Muscat International Airport. Located in its own precinct, the facility is suited to international, regional and national conventions, exhibitions and business events. Amongst its features are a tiered auditorium seating 3,200 people and more than 22,000 sqm of exhibition space.

850: the number of guests that can be accommodated in the pillarless Barr Al Jissah ballroom at the Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort and spa. Seven additional meeting rooms offer other options for meetings and events.

22: the Ministry of Tourism has placed 22 locations for investment in the tourism sector in the Sultanate as part of its efforts to encourage investment in tourist and service facilities. Among the important opportunities are construction of a 20,000 sqm tourist camp in Al Khoudh in the Wilayat of A’Seeb in Muscat Governorate and a 15,000 sqm tourist centre in the same area.
