Mears Group, which specialises in housing, neighbourhood and domiciliary care-services improvement, has appointed events agency Broad Oak Events and RefTech, which provides badging and ticketing services, to help deliver a fun day on 14 September for between 7,000 and 10,000 staff and their families at Drayton Park theme park and zoo in Staffordshire.

For the past three years, the annual event has taken place at West Midland Safari Park in Bewdley in Worcestershire.

Mears Group will be hosting another event for 2,500 staff in Scotland at Blair Drummond Safari Park, near Stirling, on 30 August.

Mears Group event manager Dean Webster said: "The event is a massive thank you to all staff. We selected Drayton Manor because of the attractions at the park and location; it is a central venue for all staff to attend.

"We try to operate a relaxed fun day so staff can enjoy the day with their families rather than setting a format. The park essentially operates as normal with our guests attending. We do use the day to promote the group's charitable arm – The Mears Foundation. We run various fundraising activities such as an option to register for VIP and upgraded tickets."
